Sorry I haven’t posted much on my food blog lately. I have been at school in Alfred, and thus not enjoying fine dining so much.
Over the weekend I did go to Rochester, where Golden Boy insisted I try some of this beer. It tastes like pumpkin pie mix that you get out of the cans. That doesn’t mean it tastes bad. A lot of people love pumpkin pie. As for me, it’s not my favorite. But, this is a good Ale so it has some smooth good ale characteristics, which I also enjoyed. Had it not had the marks of a quality ale, it would have been not worth it.
The only downside is it is very expensive. It is around $7+ dollars for a 22 oz bottle. That places it in the same price range as Ommegangs beers. But, unlike Ommegang which does really traditional beers, this brewery does a lot more experimental beers, of which this is definitely one! I really want to try the Southern Tier Creme Brulee beer. Perhaps I will seek out a brewery tour, because it seems like they are definitely up to some Willy Wonka type activities.
